In light of the newly enacted House Bill 837 (HB 837), Homeowner Associations (HOAs) are now required to undergo a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) study by January 1, 2025. This study, to be performed by a law enforcement agency or a Florida Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Practitioner (FCP), must be renewed every three years. In addition, HOAs are obligated to train their employees in safety and crime prevention principles.
